The security feature is inherited by Windows Vista in both 32-bit and 64-bit (x86 and x64) versions of the operating system, including Windows Vista SP1, severely restricts the networking capability and possibly download/upload speed especially using P2P client utility such as BitTorrent program such as BitComet, uTorrent and Azureus, or eDonkey network such as eMule.

Error 1721: There Is A Problem With This Windows Installer Package When Install or Uninstall on Vista

In Windows Vista, when attempting to install a program using setup executable file based on Windows Installer Package with .msi extension, a dialog box may pop up to display the “Error 1721” error message. The error may also happens when trying to uninstall a software program, and also when using msiexec.exe to call the installer.

Error 1721. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support or package vendor.

Ways to Disable or Turn Off User Account (Access) Control (UAC) in Windows Vista

User Account Control (UAC), or unknowingly mistaken as User Access Control is new security feature in Windows Vista. The main display of UAC is the occasional pop up dialog box asking for user’s permission needed by Windows or for user to enter administrator’s password to perform the operation or run a program especially setup executable, installer or system tools. The update Help files which can be installed locally are purposely left out and excluded from the final Windows Vista SP1 standalone installer in order to reduce the size of the files that users have to download.
