Microsoft released Windows XP SP3 RC2 Refresh which has a build version of 5.1.2600.5508. There are a lot of speculations and discussions on whether this RC test version is indeed will be released to manufacturing (RTM) to become the final release version for Windows Vista SP3, much like what happened to Windows Vista SP1 RC Refresh 2 (6001.18000) was directly turned into final build for Windows Vista SP1.

Windows XP SP3 (Service Pack 3) is probably the last service pack for Windows XP before Microsoft stops selling the operating system on June 30, 2010 or one year after Windows 7 released. Download Official Windows XP SP3 RC2 Refresh Build 5508
Windows XP Service Pack 3 Release Candidate has been updated to Release Candidate 2 Refresh (XP SP3 RC2 Refresh), as announced in TechNet forum. With the release of Windows XP SP3 RC2 Refresh build version 5508, the previously leaked Windows XP SP3 v.5503 has proven not to be a final RTM version. Indeed, it confirms that the jump in build number is intended by Microsoft for unknown reason, even though Chris Keroack from Windows Serviceability Team said there are no substantial differences between this beta release (build 5508) and XP SP3 RC2 (build 3311).
