How To Turn off Annoying Auto Play Features on Twitter

Twitter currently being rolled out a new feature where videos, GIFs and Vines will auto playing automatically as you scroll through your timeline. This feature is enabled by default on the Web or the iOS application. Auto Play function means the video or advertising contents start to play automatically with sound enabled when user was connect on Wi-Fi or a cellular connection. Sound will only turn on when user tab on the video, otherwise it will remain muted. This features not only annoying, but it can consume users data plan when you are using a cellular connection.

Good news that it still has way to disable the feature completely as well on the Web or iOS application.

How to turn off Autoplay feature in Web 

  • Log in to web version of Twitter account and click on your profile picture on the top right hand corner and choose “Setting”.
  • Scroll down to the “Content” section under the account menu. There will have “Video Tweets” option.
  • Simply uncheck the “Video autoplay” box to stop the autoplay function in Twitter.
  • To complete it, click the blue “Save changes” button.

How to turn off Autoplay feature in iOS

  • Open Twitter app on your iOS device, click the “Me” icon in the lower right corner of the app.
  • Tab the “Gear” icon next above your Twitter handle and select “Setting” from the pop up box.
  • Click the “Video autoplay” under General tab and select “Use Wi-Fi only” or “Never play videos automatically”.
  • Click “Done” to save your changes.

It’s easy. These changes will take effect immediately once you make the changes.once completed all setting, any videos embedded in your Twitter timeline will wait for you to click on them before they start playing in patiently mode.
