Sony Introduces a New Android-Powered SmartWatch 2 for Android Smartphones

Sony has introduced its brand new touch Sony SmartWatch 2 at the Mobile Asia Expo 2013, in Shanghai which the company claims as “the most advanced smartwatch available”. The Android-powered wristwatch retains the familiar remote functionality of its predecessor by allowing users simple touch of wrist to answer phone calls, read email and texts, snap photos, etc.

The new Sony Smartwatch 2 redesigned to provide users with a multi-functional watch, notifier, Android app interface, phone remote control, smart camera app, control presentations remotely using Presentation Pal, and remotely digital media player. Smartwatch 2 is ideal for pairing with large-screen devices – Xperia Z Ultra.

Feature and specification of Sony SmartWatch 2:

  • 1.6-inch touch display offering a resolution of 220 x 176 pixels
  • Bluetooth 3.0 and NFC connectivity
  • Battery life up to 2-3 days
  • 24mm watchstrap (which are swappable)
  • Aluminum and plastic materials, and water-resistant (IP57)
  • Make calls
  • Remotely taking a photo or even controlling a presentation remotely
  • GPS-enabled
  • Adjusting the volume on music player, change music tracks
  • Tracking run
  • Read emails
  • Compatible with Android 4.0 or higher

“We have over 200 unique apps dedicated for Sony SmartWatch with over one million downloads to date and we are continuing to work with our strong developer network to deliver even more compelling smartwatch experiences,” said Stefan K. Persson, Head of Companion Products at Sony Mobile Communications.

The new Sony Smartwatch 2 will be available worldwide in September 2013 but no prices have been announced yet.
