How to Make a Laser Pointer from Mini Maglite Flashlight
Mini Maglite (or MiniMag) flashlight is a normal flash light that uses normal light bulb mainly for personal use. While laser flashlight is a high power beam that does not mean for everybody, and often more costly. If you have a unused CD/DVD optical drive that you no longer wants, it’s possible to retrieve and take out the laser LED diode on the optical drive to mount onto Mini Mag-Lite to make the flashlight to become a laser pointer with burning power capability.

i am planning on entering the science fair at my intermediate school. my friend and i really want to make a laser. however, we dont think there is way we can that isn’t very danygerous and easy.

Does this work with regular DVD-rom’s I would imagine not, I would think that the diode wouldnt be strong enough in that case….

There is a reason this type of laser power is not sold as a pointer. It’s can cause permanent eye damage. Please be careful with this type of information. Eye damage is permanent.
